The following information is a brief synopsis of Hummer’s company history and what vehicles they offered.
The Hummer marquee was established in 1992 and ran until 2010. AM General originally built the H1 vehicle for military use and in 1992 began selling the car under the name Hummer H1 for civilian use. The marquee was sold to General Motors in 1998 and AM General still continued to produce the vehicle while GM was responsible for marketing and creating a dealer network. The brand produced three vehicles: The H1, H2, and H3. The H1 vehicle was unique on its own, but the H2 shared the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon platform. As well as the H3, which shared its platform with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. GM ceased production of the H1 in 2006 and continued to produce the H2 and H3 till its announcement of bankruptcy in 2009. The Hummer brand was to be discontinued and despite a number of offers from outside companies to purchase the marquee, all talks fell through.
